UK grocery price inflation hits record 14.7% and still too early to call the ceiling

We have a new record high figure for grocery price inflation according to Fraser McKevitt, head of retail and consumer insight at Kantar.

As we have seen in financial results published recently from the likes of Sainsbury’s, Marks and Spencer, and Tesco, grocery spending is increasing as inflation pushes prices to new highs.

Own label sales have risen again by 10.3% in the four weeks to 31 October, as shoppers adopt different strategies to manage budgets in the non-discretionary grocery sector.
