M&S joins list of grocers reporting large sales increase over Christmas

M&S trading update

Marks and Spencer has released its Christmas trading update, adding to the list of supermarkets who have seen a large sales increase over the period.

Stuart Machin, chief executive, commented on the steps M&S has taken to reshape M&S as an omnichannel retailer and the benefits it has brought to the business; “Our singular focus is on delivering the M&S Reshaped programme to drive growth and value creation as the UK’s leading omnichannel retailer.”

M&S reported click and collect orders increased by 20% and their omnichannel platform delivered c50% growth in third party brand sales.

As a tenant of Supermarket Income REIT, which favours the omnichannel strategy when selecting assets, we are interested to see the further development of M&S’s Omnichannel strategy.
